Excerpt of article (translation):

The Eurovision Song Contest is a television event, which enjoys one of the largest audiences for an entertainment show in the world.  It represents values, including cultural diversity in Europe through the diversity and the fraternity of the artists. It is also totally apolitical, and this is one thing that  we remain true to.  In the past, the Contest has provided the stage for Israelis and Arabs, Cypriots and Turks, Serbs and Croatians to perform together, countries that have lived tragic conflicts but during one evening of entertainment put these political and religious tensions aside.
